Long Island’s Best Summer Date Spots

Dates during the winter don’t usually stray much from the typical dinner and a movie. But during the heat of the summer, the possibilities to head outdoors are endless. Explore these seven date spots that were made for pairs.

Unleash your inner child at one of the dozens of mini golf courses on Long Island. The healthy competition makes for an evening of laughs and fun. Many mini golf courses have romantic and scenic views like Puff ‘n’ Putt in Montauk, right on Fort Pond. Visitors can also rent kayaks, sailboats and paddleboats onsite.
Go on a romantic boat ride

There are more than a handful of places to rent kayaks, canoes, sailboats and other vessels on Long Island. (Beautiful views included.) Couples can begin their nautical adventures at Treasure Cove Resort Marina in Riverhead or a number of New York State parks such as the Nissequogue River State Park in Kings Park, Captree State Park in Babylon, Orient Beach State Park in Orient and Hempstead Lake State Park in Hempstead.
Picnic on the beach

Arguably, there’s no better place to spend a romantic summer afternoon than on the beach. Pack a picnic lunch, grab the beach blanket and simply take in the surroundings. If you want to trade in the large beach crowds for something more intimate, the East End has plenty of choices such as Meschutt Beach in Hampton Bays.
Raise a glass at a brewery or winery

For good times and even better drinks, take a tour of one of Long Island’s local wineries, vineyards and breweries. Vineyards such as Wölffer Estate in Sagaponack and Raphael in Peconic offer tours and tasting specials. Most breweries, including Blue Point Brewing Co. in Patchogue and Port Jefferson Brewing Co. in Port Jefferson, do the same. Wineries like Raphael, Sparkling Pointe and Diliberto Winery even pair vino with delectable food.
Scream together at an amusement park

Who said amusement parks were for kids? Coney Island’s Luna Park is the perfect place for adults to let loose and have fun. Show your significant other you’re daring on the Cyclone or ride to the top of the Wonder Wheel for the perfect end to a romantic afternoon.
Take a day trip to NYC

The High Line is the quintessential NYC summer spot, bringing life to the concrete jungle. Museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History and Museum of Modern Art, make for a cheap and sophisticated date. Walk around Central Park (you can even rent kayaks or catch a free performance of Shakespeare in the Park). In fact, why not see a breathtaking show on Broadway? To top it all off, New York City is home to an array of incredible restaurants and eateries for any palate.
Move your dinner and a movie outdoors

Dinner with a sunset and a movie under the stars–what could be better? Upgrade this basic date combination and bring it outdoors. Long Island has plenty of outdoor eateries and bars with beautiful, waterfront views. Afterwards, bring your date and some lawn chairs to an outdoor movie under the night sky.
