117-Acre Estate in Northern Ireland Offered for £1.75M

The 117-acre property mixes prime agricultural land with mature woodland and farmyard.

A 117-acre estate in the heart of Northern Ireland that has a Victorian home on the premises and offers a range of other uses is asking £1.75 million (US$2.31 million).
Dubbed Dartan Hall, the estate was built between 1850 and 1860 by the Cross family, 17th-century settlers from Lancashire, England, according to the listing posted last month by brokerage Best Property Services.

The property remained within the Cross family until 1906, when it was leased to J.S. Hamilton,  a son of the Dean of Armagh, dean of the Anglican St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The current owner, whom the brokerage didn’t disclose, purchased the property in 1987 and has renovated it extensively, according to listing agent Jonathan Bell of Best Property Services.
The two-story main residence encompasses 6,975 square feet of interior living space. The ground floor has a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, drawing room and a long hallway. The expanse is enhanced by fireplaces with marble surround, solid oak floor and stained glass windows.
The first floor accommodates the home’s four bedrooms, including the master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and walk-in closets.

Best Property Services
The sprawling property mixes prime agricultural land with mature woodland, and a farmyard with bullpens and a cattle house, which has the capacity to hold up to 250 cows. Needless to say, the 117-acre property has great potential for a range of other uses.
The property is located about five-and-a-half miles from Armagh, the smallest city in Northern Ireland.
Interested buyers must make their offer before Oct. 12. Depending on whether the highest offer meets the vendor’s expectation, an auction might be called on later by Best Property Services.
